The journey to Annapurna Circuit Trek starts with a short scenic drive to Besisahar. Enjoying the amazing views of various peaks of the Annapurna range, you can get glimpses of the Himalayan ethnic communities like the Gurung, Magar, and Thakali descents. The unique and warm hospitality shown by these people attracts many tourists each year to the ever-so-popular Annapurna region. The trek goes along the beautiful Marsayangdi River with stunning views of the snow-covered mountains to reach the tranquil lake of Tilicho. Frozen most of the year, only the lucky ones can view the truly turquoise colors of the lake situated in the lap of Tilicho Peak (7134m). The trek then takes you across the high pass, Thorung La (5416m), and takes you to the holy temple of Muktinath. Trekking through the beautiful settlements of Kagbeni, Jomsom, and Marpha, the trek moves along the deep gorge of Kali Gandaki River to bring you to the Gurung village of Ghorepani via Shikha Magar village. Watching the sunrise over the peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs from Poon Hill is one of the most awe-inspiring moments of this trek. The trek then descends through lush rhododendron forests to the Gurung village of Ghandruk, which hosts gorgeous views of Annapurna South (7219m) and Machhapuchhre (6993m).
